CineDoc is an innovative public media initiative designed to connect the general public across Greece with the challenges of the 21st century. It’s unique idea is to screen European and international award winning documentaries in cinemas all over the year, from September to August. It is hosted at the auditorium of the French Institute in Athens and at several cinema clubs across Greece (the mainland and the islands) as well as Cyprus.
The selected films are picked from all over the world and especially from Europe and bring a unique perspective and untold stories to a diverse audience. Parallel to the screenings special events such as seminars, workshops, masterclasses, discussions and Cultural events are used to inspire community action but also gathering and meeting of documentary professionals all over Europe.
CineDoc is co-organized since 2009 by Rea Apostolidis, Avra Georgiou and Dimitra Kouzi in Cooperation with the French Institute, the Greek Public Broadcaster ERT and Anemon Productions and is supported by the Goethe Institute Athens, the German, Norvegian, Danish, Indian, French and American Embassies in Athens.
