{"id":1961,"date":"2015-06-27T18:26:50","date_gmt":"2015-06-27T16:26:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dimitrakouzi.wordpress.com\/?p=1961"},"modified":"2016-04-01T21:38:20","modified_gmt":"2016-04-01T19:38:20","slug":"exotica-erotica-etc-syros-international-film-festival-greece","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kouziproductions.com\/blog\/2015\/06\/27\/exotica-erotica-etc-syros-international-film-festival-greece\/","title":{"rendered":"EXOTICA, EROTICA, Etc. on DocStories"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b><\/b><b><\/b><b>The film by Evangelia Kranioti was selected at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.berlinale.de\/en\/HomePage.html\" target=\"_blank\">56th Berlinale Forum,\u00a0<\/a>and Evangelia\u00a0won\u00a0\u00a0the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hotdocs.ca\/news\/hot_docs_2015_awards_announced\" target=\"_blank\">Best Emerging International Filmmaker award at Hot Docs<\/a>.\u00a0 Next week Evangelia's\u00a0film will be the opening film at the<a href=\"http:\/\/syrosfilmfestival.org\" target=\"_blank\"> Syros International Film Festival <\/a>(Greece) and will then travel to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kviff.com\/en\/news\/\" target=\"_blank\">Karlovy Vary<\/a>.\u00a0The director was my guest at Hellenic Radio\u00a03 (ERA 3)'s\u00a0show<em> DocStories<\/em>\u00a0on\u00a0documentaries and storytelling last summer. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"450\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F256793547&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&visual=true&show_comments=true&color=false&show_user=true&show_reposts=false\"><\/iframe>\n<p>\n<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/kouziproductions.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ekranioti_sc3a9quence-80.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/kouziproductions.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/exotica-erotica-etc.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a>It took Evangelia Kranioti\u00a0nine years to\u00a0complete\u00a0the film research and\u00a0shooting. She\u00a0became a sailor herself, \u00a0travelling to 20 countries, from the Mediterranean to the Black Sea, venturing into the Atlantic, the Magellan Straight and the Pacific, from Panama to the Baltic, all the way to the North Pole. The material \u2013 450 hours of video footage! \u2013 was edited by Giorgos Lambrinos.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/kouziproductions.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ekranioti_sc3a9quence-8.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2036\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/kouziproductions.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/ekranioti_sc3a9quence-8.jpg?resize=300%2C162&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"EKRANIOTI_S\u00e9quence 8\" width=\"300\" height=\"162\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>\"Exotica, Erotica, Etc<\/i>. navigates centuries-old trade routes and speaks to the universal orientation towards exploration, expression and affection. But above all, it is a love note to the forgotten, hidden and ignored men and women whose long sojourns, dangerous travels and bouts of loneliness are paradoxically essential for societies to function.\u00a0<i>Exotica, Erotica, Etc.<\/i> is a documentary conceived as an endless journey, an ongoing dialogue between man and woman, nature and the world. The film's non-linear narrative embraces the rhythm of merchant ships in perpetual motion and unfolds like a landscape, an archipelago : a retired woman of the night reflects on encounters with past lovers long gone, perhaps lost at sea. We listen to her as she longs for one to return and fulfill the final romantic chapter of her life. The voice of an old captain coming from faraway \u2013the solitude of the ocean or the hotel room of an unknown port\u2013 becomes an echo to her monologue. Both characters are real and their personal narratives, kept intact, eventually weave a dense discussion on longing, memory and loss.\"<\/p>\n<p>Watch the\u00a0<a
