PBS has now made available for free streaming on its website more than 225 interviews with filmmakers in POV: behind the lense. New additions include Christine Turner, Fernand Melgar; more will be added soon. This is a great resource for anyone interested in hearing behind-the-scene stories directly from the directors.
ARTE's GREEK DAY will be aired on August 15, 2013. This 24-hour TV special on Greece will be presented to German- and French-speaking audiences across Europe by the Greek journalist Dimitra Kouzi. Shooting was completed on Hydra and in Athens on June 2-5, 2013. The programme in detail.
ALL TOGETHER WE WILL ATTEMPT TO ERASE THIS SHAME
The Greek Documentary Association – We the filmmakers, who through the public TV station, have been challenging, entertaining, or disturbing you with our documentaries by highlighting “the other side” of reality, condemn the sudden silencing of ERT based once again on «an act within legal context» which for all intents and purposes bypasses the parliamentary procedure.
This act has no historical precedent during a democracy in a time of peace! Such an act, furthermore, aligns itself with the general degradation of education and civilization, which has systematically been taking place in our country, devaluing the only investment that in the long term could lead to a better society.
With the closure of ERT, it is not only Greece that loses its voice, it is not only the employees of ERT that lose their jobs. It is:
. The thousands of Greek artists who are condemned to being “stifled” of free speech, or subordinated to client oriented relationships.
. The music ensembles that are silenced. The 3rd programme. The Greek emigrants that are isolated. The border areas of the country that are excluded.
.It is the creative documentary that has constituted an important part of the public television’s program, winning international awards and distinctions as well as co productions with important foreign channels.
. It is the millions of viewers or listeners whose only outlet for their information and entertainment will be the private channels, with all the consequences that this will have to our political and cultural life.
IT IS CIVILIZATION THAT SHRINKS
We, the creators of documentaries, united citizens and peoples, will fight for the immediate re opening of ERT, so that Greek creativity and culture reaches every house. We will fight the bill that the government announced as it continues and even strengthens the interference of the political parties and their control of public television. We will make propositions for necessary reforms in order for this voice to acquire its important educational, cultural and ethnic role, especially during these difficult times that we are traversing.
We are the only country in the world that has a black out on the public television screen and where the radio waves are silenced. Let’s fight, so that these media become the essential means, guardians and catalysts for the promotion of education and culture.

Η ΕΝΩΣΗ ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΟΥ ΝΤΟΚΙΜΑΝΤΕΡ, όλοι εμείς οι κινηματογραφιστές που μέσα από τις συχνότητες της δημόσιας τηλεόρασης συχνά σας κρατήσαμε συντροφιά με ντοκιμαντέρ που σας προβλημάτισαν, σας διασκέδασαν, σας προκάλεσαν ή σας ενόχλησαν, αναδεικνύοντας την «άλλη πλευρά» της πραγματικότητας, καταδικάζουμε την ξαφνική σίγαση της ΕΡΤ και μάλιστα βάσει μιας ακόμα «πράξης νομοθετικού περιεχομένου» που στην ουσία παρακάμπτει την κοινοβουλευτική διαδικασία. Η πράξη αυτή δεν έχει ιστορικό προηγούμενο σε μη δικτατορικά καθεστώτα εν καιρώ ειρήνης. Η πράξη αυτή επίσης ευθυγραμμίζεται πλήρως με την γενικότερη υποβάθμιση της παιδείας και του πολιτισμού, που επιχειρείται συστηματικά στον τόπο μας, απαξιώνοντας τη μόνη επένδυση που θα μπορούσε μακροπρόθεσμα να μας οδηγήσει σε μια καλύτερη κοινωνία.
Με το κλείσιμο της ΕΡΤ, δεν χάνει μόνο η Ελλάδα τη φωνή της. Δεν χάνουν μόνο οι εργαζόμενοι της ΕΡΤ τη δουλειά τους. Είναι :
• Οι χιλιάδες Έλληνες δημιουργοί που καταδικάζονται στη φίμωση ή στην υποταγή στις πελατειακές σχέσεις.
• Τα μουσικά σύνολα που σιγούν. Το τρίτο πρόγραμμα. Ο απόδημος ελληνισμός που απομονώνεται. Η παραμεθόριος που αποκλείεται.
• Είναι το δημιουργικό ντοκιμαντέρ που αποτέλεσε σημαντικό μέρος του προγράμματος της δημόσιας τηλεόρασης, αποκομίζοντας διεθνή βραβεία και διακρίσεις, αλλά και συμπαραγωγές με ξένα σημαντικά τηλεοπτικά δίκτυα.
• Είναι τα εκατομμύρια τηλεθεατές ή ακροατές που για την ενημέρωση και την ψυχαγωγία τους δεν θα έχουν πια άλλη διέξοδο από τα κανάλια των ιδιωτών επιχειρηματιών, με ό, τι αυτό συνεπάγεται για τον πολιτικό και πολιτιστικό μας βίο.
ΕΙΝΑΙ Ο ΠΟΛΙΤΙΣΜΟΣ ΠΟΥ ΣΥΡΡΙΚΝΩΝΕΤΑΙ
Ως καλλιτέχνες, δημιουργοί ντοκιμαντέρ, συμπολίτες και συνάνθρωποι θ’ αγωνιστούμε για την άμεση επαναλειτουργία της ΕΡΤ, ώστε η ελληνική δημιουργία και ο παγκόσμιος πολιτισμός να φτάνει σε κάθε σπίτι. Θα αγωνιστούμε εναντίον του νομοσχεδίου που ανακοίνωσε η κυβέρνηση και με το οποίο η κομματική παρέμβαση και ο έλεγχος της δημόσιας τηλεόρασης συνεχίζεται και επαυξάνεται. Θα προτείνουμε τις μεταρρυθμίσεις εκείνες, που αποτελούν απαραίτητη προϋπόθεση ώστε αυτή η φωνή να αποκτήσει το σημαντικό παιδευτικό, πολιτιστικό και εθνικό ρόλο, ο οποίος της αναλογεί, ιδιαίτερα στη δύσκολη συγκυρία που διανύουμε.
Είμαστε η μόνη χώρα στον κόσμο που έχει το μαύρο στίγμα στην οθόνη της δημόσιας τηλεόρασης. Η μόνη όπου τα ερτζιανά του δημόσιου ραδιοφώνου σιωπούν. Ας αγωνιστούμε ώστε αυτοί οι φορείς να γίνουν ουσιαστικοί θεματοφύλακες και καταλύτες για την προώθηση της παιδείας και του πολιτισμού.

Hippie-hippie Matala! Matala! του Γιώργου Βαρελά (2013, 75΄)
Μια πολύ καλή εσωτερική παραγωγή της ΕΡΤ!
Ένα ιστορικό ντοκιμαντέρ σε έρευνα και σενάριο της Μαρίας Κουφοπούλου. Με εξαιρετικό αρχειακό υλικό της εποχής και πρωταγωνιστές μια παρέα συμπαθείς, φιλλέληνες χίπιδες που ξανασυναντιούνται στα Μάταλα . Ο τίτλος του ντοκιμαντέρ προέκυψε από την συνέντευξη που πήρε η Μαρία Κουφοπούλου από την Τζόνι Μίτσελ. Όταν ήρθε "χίπισσα" και εκείνη στην Ελλάδα με την αδερφή της κάποιος τις είδε και τους είπε : Hippie - Hippie....? Μatala! Matala! (είστε χίπισες; να πάτε στα Μάταλα)
Το reunion των χίπιδων στα Μάταλα που στάθηκε η αφορμή για την ταινία - φωτογράφισε η Κλαίρη Μουσταφέλου.
Η ταινία σου ανοίγει την όρεξη για ανέμελες διακοπές και ταυτόχρονα αποκαθιστά την "τιμή" των Ματάλων, βάζει τα γεγονότα στην σωστή τους διάσταση και μάλλον καταρίπτει μύθους και δοξασίες!
